Job summary

The City of Leander is seeking a Recreation Specialist to organize and facilitate community programs for the Leander Activity Center and City-sponsored events, ensuring safety and enjoyment for visitors. This mid-level position under moderate supervision involves assisting with event setup, program promotion, front desk duties, and coordinating volunteers, trainees, and vendors.

A minimum of one year of related experience is required; evenings and weekends may be needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of related experience.
• Ability to work hours other than the regular daytime schedule such as evenings and weekends.
• Valid Driver’s License from any state in the U.S. Ability to obtain a Texas driver’s license within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering high quality recreation programs, events and services.
• Create media content and manage social media posts to promote events.
• Coordinate city-wide special events and assist with event setup and teardown.
• Maintain facilities, equipment and supplies for programs and events.
• Provide customer service at the front desk and process transactions.
