Job summary

Acacia Network seeks a Recreation Specialist to carry out prearranged activity programs that address the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and cultural needs of clients in a community setting in New York City. The role involves setting up equipment, supervising participants, and ensuring safety and inclusivity.

Strong teamwork, organizational skills, and experience with diverse populations are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in relevant social work fields preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must obtain Mandated Reporter training within 30 days of hire.
Experience with co-occurring disorders and criminal justice system.
Evening and weekend work required.
Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work with children aged 0–5 years in a diverse environment.

Responsibilities

Provide recreational programs for a diverse population of residents.
Set up and organize equipment needed for programs and oversee residents with encouragement.
Follow safety policies and protocols in the community.
Communicate effectively with all facility departments.
Provide support to volunteers.
Maintain inventory of department equipment.
Document residents’ participation in AWARDS and discuss progress during MDT meetings.
Escort, transport, and assist residents to programs.
Perform other related duties as requested by supervisor.
