Job summary

131 Department of Corrections in Oklahoma seeks a Probation and Parole Officer for Region II. You will manage adult felon caseloads, perform risk/need assessments, design transition plans, and monitor compliance with conditions set by releasing authorities, while coordinating treatment referrals and community reintegration.

Level I–III positions require knowledge of laws, evidence-based practices, and strong communication. Travel and equity considerations apply in on-site assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 24 hours in psychology, sociology, social work, criminology, education, criminal justice administration, penology or police science.
• Two years of correctional experience in social casework (classification, assessment or field supervision).
• Master’s degree may substitute for one year of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages a caseload of adult felons using motivational interviewing to assess criminogenic risk/need.
• Monitors transition plans and conditions ordered by releasing authority.
• Assists offenders in obtaining employment and builds pro-social support networks.
• Conducts investigations (pre-sentence, interstate, pre-pardon, pre-parole).
• Maintains offender case documentation and collects payments.
• Provides security support during disturbances and transports offenders as needed.
• Conducts periodic drug and alcohol screening.
