Job summary

The City of Edgerton, Kansas is seeking a Planner to join our Community Development team. The successful candidate will review planning and zoning applications, work with developers, assist residents with code questions, and prepare materials for the City’s Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and City Council.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of interpreting local, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in city, urban, or regional planning or related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of progressively responsible related experience preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and insurable driving record are required.
  • Position may require evening, weekend, holiday, or overtime work including overnight seminars or conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Review rezoning requests, site development plans, plats, and other planning applications for compliance with codes.
  • Coordinate with developers, property owners, and design professionals to discuss development requirements.
  • Prepare staff reports, agendas, and presentations for Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals.
  • Assist with public hearing notices and advertising and respond to inquiries from residents and staff.
