Job summary

UCLA Health is seeking a lead pharmacist to supervise community pharmacy operations and ensure regulatory compliance across our specialty and outpatient services.

You will report to the Director of Community Pharmacy and guide pharmacists and technicians, drive workflows, and participate in regulatory activities. This role emphasizes operational leadership, audits, and cross-team collaboration to expand UCLA Health’s community pharmacy programs.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist leader with advanced practice in outpatient or specialty settings.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and accreditation processes.
• Experience supervising pharmacists and technicians in a community pharmacy environment.
• Familiarity with URAC, BOP, ACHC accreditation—readiness and maintenance.
• Experience with manufacturer and payer audits and related processes.
• Ability to drive operational performance and staff development.
• Collaborates effectively with clinical teams, admin partners, and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in controlled substance stewardship and compliant dispensing workflows.
• Board certification (BCACP, BCPS, BCSP or similar) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Completing patient assessments, refill coordination, prior authorizations, financial assistance and supporting day-to-day pharmacy workflow functions.
• Cross-training pharmacists and technicians across community pharmacy workflows.
• Conducting competency assessments and ensuring timely completion of trainings and required certifications.
• Collaborating with UC system partners, pharmacy leadership, and internal departments to enhance and expand community pharmacy services.
• Supporting operational performance improvement and staff development.
• Supervising staff to ensure accuracy, productivity, compliance, and adherence to departmental expectations.
• Participating in departmental meetings and serving as Administrator-On-Call as needed.

We’re seeking an experienced pharmacy leader with:

• PharmD degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy


• Minimum 5 years of outpatient or specialty pharmacy experience


• Demonstrated experience supervising pharmacists and technicians


• Strongunderstanding of specialty pharmacy operations, accreditation requirements, and regulatory standards


• Ability to manage URAC, BOP, and ACHC accreditation and readiness


• Experience withmanufacturer and payer audits


• Strong operational leadership skills, including workflow oversight, competency assessments, and performance management


• Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical teams, administrative partners, and external stakeholders


• Proficiency with controlled substance stewardship, specialty dispensing workflows, and compliance activities


• Preferred: Relevant board certification (BCACP, BCPS, BCSP, or other specialty certification aligned with duties)
