Job summary

Macdonald-Training-Center, Inc. is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional to provide supervision and support to individuals with disabilities in home and community settings in Tampa, FL.

You will help implement plans, promote independence, and document care with accuracy. Responsibilities include arranging community activities, assisting with daily tasks, and ensuring safety and cleanliness in living environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 18+ years old.
• One year of verifiable experience in medical, psychiatric, nursing, childcare, or with developmental disabilities.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written).
• Strong interpersonal and professional communication with families and staff.
• Commitment to person-centered practices and teamwork.
• Willingness to complete required training and medication validation.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and supervision to individuals to help achieve goals.
• Assist with community integration and arrange activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean home environment for individuals.
• Assist with daily tasks and daily routines to promote independence.
• Document services accurately and timely and complete required training.
• Record medications accurately and manage in accordance with policy.
• Offer companionship and encourage social interaction to reduce isolation.
• Engage in conversations and activities based on interests and abilities.
• Attend community events and appointments with individuals as needed.
• Maintain professional boundaries and ensure regulatory compliance.
