Job summary

The Parent Coordinator is part of the administrative team working under the supervision of the principal. The Coordinator will engage with and involve parents in the school community, including those with limited English proficiency, by collaborating with the principal, staff, leadership team, parent associations, and community groups.

This role focuses on creating a welcoming environment for parents and identifying parent and related school/community issues to be addressed in a timely manner

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of community work experience preferred.
• Associate degree plus four years of experience in community work preferred.
• High school diploma and six years of community work experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Increases parent involvement by working with school and community organizations.
• Facilitates parent and school community concerns and issues (policies, facilities, etc.).
• Conducts outreach to engage parents in their children's education.
• Convenes regular parent meetings and events around topics of concern to parents.
• Serves as a liaison to central and field-based parent support staff.
