Job summary

Horizon is seeking a Community Outreach and Training Specialist to build relationships with community organizations and schools across the Western New York region. You will facilitate evidence-based suicide prevention and mental health trainings, schedule sessions, collect documentation, and report on outcomes.

The role includes representing the program at events, supporting partnerships, and driving community engagement while ensuring inquiries and resources are addressed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, public health, education, or related field is required.
• 1–3 years’ experience in behavioral health or related field preferred.
• Strong commitment to mental health awareness and community well-being.
• Dynamic and engaging public speaking skills with experience facilitating training.
• Proficient in email communication, MS Office, social media, and/or other data management platforms.
• Excellent networking, outreach, and group dynamics skills.
• Demonstrates discretion and commitment to maintaining confidential information. Reliable transportation is required.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate relationships and serve as a liaison with community organizations, schools, and/or groups regarding training materials, resources, and referral information throughout the WNY region.
• Become certified in Evidence-Based suicide prevention and mental health awareness training.
• Facilitate trainings and provide follow-up activities to organizations, schools and/or groups.
• Responsible for providing training scheduling, collecting training documentation (e.g., sign-in, survey), reporting, and follow-up to ensure inquiries, needs and resources are addressed.
• Represent the program at community events, coalitions, and outreach initiatives.
• Support partnership development and community engagement activities.
• Performs other related duties and activities as required.
