Job Title: Community Outreach Specialist
Department: EHE | Schoenbaum Family Center at Weinland Park Lab School
Job Description: The Early Head Start/Head Start Home Based Educator will recruit, enroll, and maintain a minimum caseload of ten families, in compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards. Responsibilities include completing orientation paperwork and child developmental assessments, visiting families for needs assessments, scheduling weekly in-home visits, and documenting in the Child Plus system. They will plan and facilitate family socialization activities, utilize curriculum aligned with school readiness goals, develop individualized lesson plans, and ensure children are up-to-date with health checks and immunizations. They will assist families in accessing services, act as a liaison, and participate in collaboration meetings. Building respectful, positive, and culturally responsive relationships with families is essential. Additional duties include documentation, attending meetings, and participating in professional development.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, with hours flexible to meet family needs.
Minimum Education Required: Associate degree in child development, early childhood education, social work, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Desired Qualifications: At least two years of early childhood education experience; home visiting experience preferred; ability to work with diverse families; professionalism, adaptability, and independence; excellent communication skills; ability to obtain training certifications in child abuse recognition, communicable diseases, first aid/CPR within 30 days; up-to-date immunizations; successful background check.
Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 0 years of relevant experience required; 0-2 years preferred.
