Job summary

The Salvation Army in Milwaukee County seeks a part-time Community Outreach Programs Assistant to provide general program and clerical support for seasonal programs at the Distribution Center.

Responsibilities include supervising volunteers, collecting program statistics, supporting donations sorting and records, coordinating meetings, and assisting with event logistics and photos for sharing stories with Community Relations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some post-high school education preferred.
  • ServSafe certification (Feed the Kids) and valid Wisconsin driver’s license with TSA insurance clearance preferred.
  • Minimum two years of related work experience, warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision for volunteers during seasonal programs and assist with logistics.
  • Gather seasonal program statistics and prepare monthly reports for Milwaukee County Social Services Director and Community Outreach Programs Manager.
  • Assist in oversight of sorting and record keeping of program donations.
  • Ensure photos are taken and stories gathered for Community Relations communications.
  • Provide clerical support including scheduling, filing, data entry, and preparing reports; support distribution center events.

Job description

Job Objective: Provides general program and clerical support to the Community Outreach Programs Manager for the seasonal programs operated out of the Distribution Center.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains a physical presence to lend support during the preparation of meals for the summer Feed the Kids program; the registration for and distribution of toys during Toy Shop; the donation and distribution of coats during Coats for Kids and the assembly and distribution of backpacks.
  • Gathers seasonal program statistics, completes monthly statistical reports and submits this statistical information to the office of the Milwaukee County Social Services Director and Community Outreach Programs Manager.
  • Assists in providing oversight for the sorting and record keeping of program donations.
  • Ensures pictures are taken for the various seasonal program functions and events, and gathers stories to be shared with Community Relations.
  • Active engagement with and supervision of volunteers.
  • Provides clerical support for the Community Outreach Programs Manager, including scheduling and coordinating of team meetings, filing, data entry, preparing reports, etc.
  • Provides logistical support and maintains physical presence at any distribution center events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Some post high school educational experience preferred.

Certifications: ServSafe certification (for Feed the Kids program); valid Wisconsin driver’s license with clearance to drive from TSA’s insurance is preferred.

Experience: A minimum two years of related work experience/warehouse experience.

Part-time employees with a regular work schedule of 20-29 hours per week are eligible for voluntary life benefits, prorated holiday pay and prorated paid time off.

Compensation: $17.84-22.30/hour, based on experience.
