Job summary

County of Lake is seeking an Outreach and Prevention Specialist to provide education, consultation, and training for staff, partners, and the public. The role focuses on preventing alcohol and drug abuse within the county and supporting BHSA/SUDS prevention programs.

The position requires knowledge of prevention techniques, extensive community outreach, and the ability to work across multiple agencies while maintaining compliance with regulations. California driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum work experience in substance abuse prevention, behavioral health services, or related field or two-to-one experience/education substitution.
• Two possible patterns: associate's degree plus 1 year experience, or a 4-year degree with substitution options.
• Knowledge of state and county prevention policies and program administration.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development, monitoring, and coordination of program goals.
• Maintain records and prepare reports for state and local agencies.
• Conduct prevention activities and outreach to community groups and schools.
• Promote collaborative prevention efforts and environmental strategies.
• Travel to various locations for meetings, trainings, and events.
