Job summary

Qualifications

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including late nights and weekends.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The ACE Community Organizer advances the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle's Advocacy & Community Engagement (ACE) Department by building community power, strengthening civic participation, advancing policy priorities, and supporting systems level change that improves outcomes for Black communities and historically underserved populations.

Working across multiple initiatives and funding sources, the Community Organizer develops trusted community relationships, coordinates outreach and engagement activities, facilitates community education, supports advocacy campaigns, and helps translate community voice into meaningful action. The position supports ACE's strategic priorities through coalition building, public engagement, policy education, community organizing, and data informed program implementation while contributing to departmental goals, grant deliverables, and organizational impact.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Sociology, Communications, or related field preferred.

Minimum two years of experience in community engagement, organizing, advocacy, public policy, or related work.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent relationship building, facilitation, and project management skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment.

Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Demonstrates cultural competency

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of Washington State legislative and local government processes.

Experience with coalition building, advocacy campaigns, grant funded initiatives, or community-based programming.

Experience with CRM systems, outreach tracking, and program reporting.

ULMS TOTAL COMPENSATION:

** Most Benefits will take effect on the 1st of the month following a 60-day waiting period

Medical - $8,741.40 per year

Dental - $570 per year

Vision - $65.04 per year
