Job summary

FayettevillePublicLibrary is seeking a Community Engagement Assistant, Outreach to greet patrons, answer questions, and support library programs across locations in Fayetteville, AR.

The role emphasizes frontline service, community engagement, and coordination of outreach activities, including bookmobile support and volunteer liaison. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and two years of college, plus two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and effectively present information.
• Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

Responsibilities

• Proactively greet and establish rapport with patrons, engaging them in conversations about materials and services.
• Provide exemplary customer service in-person at outreach events and at all library locations.
• Answer questions about library programs and services and refer visitors to staff or service desks.
• Communicate library policies and services clearly to patrons and tailor assistance to their needs.
• Assist with Bookmobile operations including pre-trip inspections and on-site programming.
