Job summary

Cedar Wellness Center in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator to connect with local groups and raise awareness of our opioid use disorder services. Reporting to the Clinic Director, you will represent the clinic at health fairs, workshops, and community events, building trusted referral networks and expanding access to care.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to work evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

Cedar Wellness Center is a Tribally owned clinic that treats a diverse population of patients, including Native and Non-Native people. We have the opportunity to provide whole person care, while managing patient substance use disorders, primary care, infectious disease, and mental health needs. We are currently seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator to support our clinic in Tacoma, WA. This position, reporting to the Clinic Director, is an excellent opportunity for someone excited to make an immediate and lasting impact in a growing company.

Position Overview

You may have heard the phrase, “The opposite of addiction is connection.” At Cedar Wellness Center, we believe that individuals are crucial to the healing of communities—and that strong communities help combat the cycle of addiction. We are looking for a kind, optimistic, and compassionate person who wants to help build connections to fight the opioid crisis in our area. Among other responsibilities, our Community Outreach Coordinator will represent Cedar Wellness Center to local groups and make them aware of available services. This role will be a vital force for healing within our clinic and in the community that our patients call home.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• One year of equivalent experience or two years of related experience.
• Proof of valid Washington driver’s license and auto insurance.
• Must be able to safely operate vehicle and travel short to moderate distances.
• Excellent prioritization and organization skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work non-standard, flexible, evening, and occasional weekend and holiday hours, including early morning start times, as needed to fully perform the role.
• Intermediate-level PC skills required.
• Ability to provide health and TB clearance.
• Must pass background check and drug screen.

Required Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

• Develop and work with agencies and service providers to facilitate coordination and information sharing; provide support services as applicable.
• Participate in health fairs, community events, and other events where the target population gathers.
• Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with current and potential referral sources.
• Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of the clinic’s markets including government agencies, major payor groups, key referral sources, and competitor’s market positioning.
• Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of community resources and assist patients in accessing community resources.
• Participate in staff meetings and work with other administrative staff as required.
• Maintain professional and congenial attitude toward coworkers, patients, agencies, and members in the community.
• Develop, create, and maintain a resource file of available social service agencies and assistance providers in the target area for use in referring patients for needed services.
• Use appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions; understand and utilize available technology as customer service, communications, and data-gathering tools.

$35 - $35 an hour
