Job description

Position Description: To build and manage a strong pipeline of households who can benefit from Habitat’s programs by leading community-based outreach, developing referral partnerships and guiding prospective participants. The role works closely with Family Services, Marketing and Habitat Ambassadors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Outreach & Participant Pipeline Coordination
  • Develop and implement community outreach plans designed to identify households that may benefit from Habitat programs and hand off when appropriate to Family Services.
  • Engage prospective participants in clear, welcoming conversations about Habitat programs, helping them understand which program pathways may fit their situation.
  • Work closely with Family Services to establish and maintain a smooth, consistent handoff point from outreach and initial interest to formal program intake.
  • Coordinate orientations, information sessions, neighborhood outreach, presentations and other entry points that help prospective participants move from awareness to action.
  • Identify underrepresented populations, communities or geographies in program pipelines and investigate barriers to participation, using community input and partner relationships to develop targeted responses.
  • Make decisions following established policies and procedures and within the defined boundary between outreach/intake support and formal program eligibility or case management.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Community Partnerships
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure goals, roles, messaging and follow-up processes are clear before outreach begins.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal staff, nonprofit and social service partners, faith communities, schools, cultural and neighborhood organizations, veteran-serving organizations, businesses and other potential partners.
  • Identify new partners and referral pathways that can expand Habitat's reach, particularly in communities or among populations that are not consistently represented in existing program pipelines.
  • Support broader outreach initiatives through community presence, presentations, tabling, relationship-building and volunteer recruitment.
  • Serve as a connector among internal teams and external partners so information shared in the community reflects current eligibility guidance, timelines, capacity and priorities.
  • Stay current on basic trends in affordable housing, community outreach, partner engagement and community needs within the Fox Cities and broader region.
Event-Based, Geographic & Volunteer Outreach
Process, Measurement & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead or support targeted family outreach connected to Rock the Block and other event-based or geography-based initiatives.
  • Use events, neighborhood campaigns and geographic targeting as opportunities to strengthen longer-term referral networks and awareness of Habitat programs.
  • Support volunteer recruitment when it advances a broader outreach or community initiative, while coordinating with Habitat Ambassadors and other staff.
Advocacy & Government Relations
  • Build and maintain relationships with public officials and municipal partners to strengthen referral pathways, increase program awareness, and advance Habitat's advocacy strategy.
  • Share community-level observations, barriers, and needs with leadership to inform Habitat's local and state advocacy priorities.
Process, Measurement & Continuous Improvement
  • Support and maintain a standardized intake and tracking process for outreach contacts, household inquiries, partner referrals and handoffs using Salesforce, Air Table, shared forms, spreadsheets or other tools as appropriate.
  • Document effective approaches, referral processes and outreach practices so successful tactics can be repeated, scaled and shared across staff and Habitat Ambassadors.
  • Review pipeline data with Program Coordinators, Family Services and leadership to identify gaps and develop targeted outreach responses.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Strong commitment to Habitat’s mission and values and to values-driven work.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including comfort with public speaking, one-on-one conversations and relationship-building across a broad array of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Proficiency in using basic technology tools such as email, calendars, shared drives, spreadsheets, Salesforce or other contact-management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain effective internal and external working relationships, especially with community-based organizations, municipalities and diverse community members.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a dynamic team, managing multiple priorities, exercising sound judgment, recognizing role boundaries, and adapting to changing circumstances.
