Job summary

Baltimore County Government in Towson, MD, is seeking a part-time Community Nutritionist (Non-Merit) for the Women, Infant and Children program. This role screens clients, collects health data, and implements nutrition plans, while coordinating with outreach and education efforts.

Qualifications

• Associate in Arts degree in health education, nutrition, dietetics, human ecology/home science or related field.
• Valid Class C Maryland driver's license (non-commercial) required.
• Proof of licenses, certifications and education must be submitted with each application.
• Degree equivalency documentation from World Education Services (WES) if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Screens clients and obtains necessary documentation to determine medical and nutritional risk for WIC eligibility.
• Takes and records height, weight, and hemoglobin measurements.
• Obtains clients' diet histories and assesses adequacy using standard guidelines.
• Prepares and implements nutrition plans. Prescribes food packages to meet clients medical and nutritional needs.
• Counsels clients, provides educational materials, and makes referrals to other resources.
• Assists in the planning and implementation of nutritional education programs and outreach activities.
• Assist in the development and distribution of educational materials and reports.
• Assist in evaluating the need for services, and in the planning and implementation of service delivery.
• Receives, investigates, and resolves inquiries, requests, and complaints.
• Assists in training and orienting new personnel.
