Job summary

The Salvation Army Puyallup Valley Corps is seeking a part-time Cook to plan, prepare and serve meals during scheduled hours at the community center drop-in meal site. The role emphasizes nutritious menu planning, sanitary cooking, and strong customer service in a fast-paced setting.

Applicants should be capable of adapting to dietary needs, maintaining inventory, and following all safety procedures. A Washington background check is required; ISR-friendly hours total 25 per week.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking for large groups (70+).
• Ability to write/create nutritious and appealing menus.
• Plan and prepare meals economically and sanitary.
• Plan event preparation and kitchen needs as required.
• Purchase food in bulk, manage inventory, rotate stock.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and serve meals during scheduled hours at the drop-in meal site.
• Follow budget considerations while purchasing and preparing meals.
• Understand and enforce safety and PTM requirements in and around the kitchen.
• Execute the facility's fire and disaster plans and participate in drills.
• Maintain clean and organized kitchen and supply areas; assist with dining area cleanliness.
