Job description

Allegiance Strategies, LLC, a public affairs firm focused on helping clients build a freer, safer, and stronger world, seeks to hire a motivated, organized individual with relevant experience as our Community Manager for New York Solidarity Network (NYSN) beginning in July 2024.

New York Solidarity Network (NYSN) is a New York-based 501(c)4 membership organization that works to promote the American alliance with Israel and the strong relationship the majority of New Yorkers, including Jewish New Yorkers, have with Israel. NYSN members receive recommendations on how they can further our mission. NYSN is searching for a Community Manager who will execute strategic and effective member advocacy. We are looking for someone with experience and organizational skills who will support a team of seasoned operatives, consultants, and an active board of directors.

NYSN, founded in 2022, empowers elected and civil leaders while expressing solidarity with the Jewish community/Israel and creates a strong and sustainable donor network among our members to support leaders, organizations, committees, and charities aligned with our values.

NYSN makes philanthropic recommendations to our members and provides an accessible way for pro-Israel voters and donors to make informed decisions based on their values. Since New York's primary elections are often low turnout and decided by small margins, even a small number of voters, donors, or activists can have a significant impact.

This role reports to the Executive Director. NYSN is based in New York City, with the scope of work covering the entire state of New York.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing the organization’s political plans, goals, and priorities in collaboration with the Executive Director
  • Supporting the Board of Directors and Executive Director in meetings and scheduling
  • Being the first point of contact for NYSN members, troubleshooting issues, providing guidance, and engagement opportunities
  • Providing regular communication, including weekly email updates, to NYSN members
  • Engaging with elected officials, civic leaders, candidates, and their teams
  • Maintaining social media presence
  • Developing strategic partnerships in coordination with the ED and NYSN Board
  • Creating virtual cohort/affinity group spaces for mobilization, organizing, and advocacy
  • Monitoring developments in the national and New York political landscape
  • Assisting with fundraising events
  • Representing NYSN at meetings and events, aligning with the organization’s mission and values

The ideal candidate has:

  • At least 4 years of advocacy, political, campaign, or organizing experience
  • Experience managing field programs and developing field plans
  • Campaign Management and/or Finance Director experience is a plus
  • Understanding of New York State and City campaign finance laws is a plus
  • Knowledge of the role of state and local legislators
  • Pro-Israel advocacy experience
  • Commitment to the IHRA definition of antisemitism, including anti-Zionism as antisemitic behavior
  • Expertise in Twitter/X and other social media platforms
  • Proficiency with Act Blue, Zoom, Microsoft Office, and familiarity with VAN and ThruText (a plus)
  • Understanding of the New York political landscape
  • Ability to multitask, plan, troubleshoot, and make sound judgments in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively in a remote setting

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Dental, medical, and vision insurance
  • Health Savings Account with maximum employer contribution
  • Generous PTO

This full-time position offers a salary range of $60,000-$80,000. The role is largely virtual and can be performed from a commuting distance of Washington DC or New York City. Minimal travel to NYC or Albany may be required.
