The job details are as follows:

The Community Manager is an expert community practitioner who enables OCLC member communities to connect, contribute, and lead. This role is responsible for the operational excellence and strategic health of OCLC\'s member-facing community spaces, ensuring that libraries and library professionals can engage meaningfully with each other and with OCLC across a range of channels, platforms, and programming.

The Community Manager works cross-functionally and collaboratively with Product, Marketing, Member Engagement, Support, and other teams to coordinate communication, gather and surface member feedback, and deliver programming that helps libraries maximize the value of OCLC solutions. A key focus of this role is supporting member engagement and adoption for WorldShare Management Services (WMS), EZproxy, and Choreo Insights, fostering communities where users can share best practices, learn from one another, and provide insights that inform product strategy and continuous improvement.

The role is also responsible for delivering both ongoing virtual programming and large-scale virtual event series that strengthen connections among library professionals and deepen engagement with OCLC services. The ideal candidate brings experience with online community platforms, a passion for building meaningful relationships within the library community, and the operational discipline to execute high-quality programs at scale. This is a role for someone who takes pride in creating exceptional member experiences, enabling collaboration across teams, and helping both libraries and colleagues succeed.

  • Responsibilities

Community Engagement, Moderation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Monitor, moderate and participate as needed in OCLC community forums, maintaining a welcoming and productive environment for member discussion across community spaces
  • Develop and implement engagement strategies that increase member participation, deepen member connection to the OCLC cooperative, amplify member-generated content, and support a sense of shared professional community
  • Identify and nurture community members who demonstrate leadership potential, connecting them to opportunities for greater contribution and visibility through programming, events, and community roles

Cross-functional Coordination & Product Communication

  • Serve as a liaison between community members and internal OCLC teams, ensuring that member voices are heard, prioritized, and responded to in a timely and meaningful way
  • Coordinate the review and community response process for member-submitted product enhancement ideas, ensuring all submissions receive responses and that patterns in member feedback are clearly communicated to relevant internal teams

Community Platform Management

  • Manage day-to-day content, activity, and organization across OCLC Community Center spaces, ensuring content is current and accurate
  • Build and configure community spaces and workflows, applying working knowledge of platform architecture, HTML, and online systems, to develop spaces that support member needs and program goals
  • Test, troubleshoot, and iterate on platform functionality, approaching technical challenges with curiosity and persistence

Community Data & Reporting

  • Deliver regular community engagement reports to internal stakeholders, drawing on established reporting infrastructure to communicate community health, participation trends, and areas of opportunity
  • Interpret, analyze, and communicate reporting outputs clearly and accurately, translating community data into relevant insights and flagging trends for different stakeholder audiences

Ongoing Community Programming and Virtual Event Series Management

  • Plan and execute a regular cadence of virtual community programming, including product update webinars, office hours, and community presentations, coordinating with internal subject matter experts and product stakeholders to develop relevant, well-organized sessions
  • Manage all logistics for recurring programming, including scheduling, speaker coordination, platform setup, communications, and post-event follow-up, ensuring consistent and reliable delivery
  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of annual or bi-annual virtual event series, managing the full program lifecycle from initial concept and call for proposals or agenda development through post-event wrap-up and reporting
  • Manage all technical event logistics on Webex and other virtual platforms, including session configuration, presenter rehearsals, and live event support across multi-week or multi-month programming schedules
  • Develop and execute promotional plans across multiple channels in coordination with stakeholders across the organization, tailoring messaging for different audiences and adjusting tactics across the promotional lifecycle

Qualifications

Required

  • Master\'s degree in Library Science or equivalent professional experience in a library or library-adjacent environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of library environments, workflows, and the professional needs of library staff across institution types
  • Experience managing or contributing to online community platforms, with comfort navigating platform systems, learning new tools, and troubleshooting independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex product or technical information into clear, accessible messaging for community and internal audiences
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Experience planning and executing virtual events or programming, including working with presenters, managing logistics, and coordinating across internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively across teams, building productive relationships with colleagues in teams across the organization
  • Adaptability and willingness to shift priorities and approaches as organizational and community needs evolve
  • Familiarity with reporting tools and data outputs, with the ability to interpret and communicate community data to stakeholder audiences
  • Curiosity about and comfort experimenting and iterating with AI tools to identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve the member experience with the Community Center

Preferred

  • Experience with community platforms specifically, including building or configuring community spaces and managing platform workflows
  • Working knowledge of HTML and web content management
  • Experience managing a formal call for proposals process or serving on a program committee for a professional event or conference
