Job summary

Burlington Capital Properties is hiring a Maintenance Technician for UNMC Residences, a 235-unit newly constructed community. The role covers interior/exterior repairs, make-readies, and preventive maintenance to ensure safety and curb appeal.

The position runs Monday–Friday with an on-call schedule for after-hours and weekend emergencies. Requires 1–2 years in maintenance; HVAC cert preferred; valid driver’s license; gain exposure to warranty claims and vendor coordination.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
  • HVAC certification preferred.
  • 1–2 years’ maintenance or related experience.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, and general building trades.
  • Ability to follow directives with minimal supervision.
  • Basic English proficiency and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform interior and exterior repairs to maintain apartments, common areas, buildings, and grounds.
  • Complete service requests timely and communicate progress with Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Prepare vacant apartments for occupancy per make-ready standards.
  • Inspect work by outside contractors for quality and compliance.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance for appearance, safety, and curb appeal.
  • Assist with warranty management and vendor coordination for new community.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Inspect common areas to keep them clean, safe, and operational.
  • Participate in resident events and rotating on-call schedule for emergencies.

Job description

Burlington Capital Properties is accepting applications for the Maintenance Technician position at UNMC Residences, a 235‑unit new construction community.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with a rotating on‑call schedule for after‑hours and weekend emergency maintenance.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform interior and exterior repairs to maintain apartment homes, common areas, buildings, and grounds according to established procedures.
  • Complete service requests in a timely and professional manner while regularly communicating progress with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Prepare vacant apartment homes for occupancy in accordance with established make‑ready standards.
  • Inspect completed work performed by outside contractors to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to maintain the property's appearance, safety, and curb appeal.
  • Assist with warranty management for the newly constructed community by identifying warrantable items, documenting issues, submitting warranty claims, coordinating with vendors, and verifying that repairs are completed to company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
  • Regularly inspect common areas to ensure they remain clean, safe, and fully operational.
  • Participate in resident events and community activities as requested by management.
  • Participate in the property's rotating on‑call schedule for emergency maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record required.
  • HVAC certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in maintenance or equivalent field required.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, and general building trades required.
  • Ability to follow directives and work with minimum supervision.
  • Basic English language proficiency and effective communication skills.
  • Positive interaction with residents, employees, vendors, and the general public.
