Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Carolinas is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities in their home, under supervision of the Residential Coordinator.

You will support daily living skills, monitor safety, assist with medications as needed, document progress in the electronic case management system, and participate in team planning to promote independence and community integration.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care and support to people with IDD in their home under supervision.
• Teaches and supports daily living skills and follows the Person-Centered Plan.
• Monitors medication as prescribed and may assist with administration.
• Plans, coordinates, and participates in social activities and community integration.
• Documents activities and behaviors in the electronic case management system daily.
• Ensures safety, sanitation, and basic home maintenance as required.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings and communicates with the support team.
