Job summary

Achievement House Inc. in Santa Maria, CA is seeking full and part-time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our Community Living Services team. You will work closely with individuals to help develop independent living skills and maintain safety in daily activities.

The role emphasizes empowerment, inclusion, and community integration, with on-going training and a supportive work environment. Candidates must have a CA driver’s license and be willing to undergo a background check.

Qualifications

• Must be able to train, motivate and challenge clients while establishing and maintaining a friendly relationship.
• Maintain professionalism with clients and staff and work cooperatively in a team.
• Excellent spelling and grammar skills.
• Basic knowledge of office procedures.
• Must be able to operate business machines, computer equipment, cellphones, and adaptive equipment used in agency services without difficulty.
• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the acquisition, retention, and improvement of adaptive skill and behaviors
• Educate and develop Individuals served on interaction and social skills within the community
• Teach and encourage proper leisure activities, along with the use of leisure time
• Educate and enhance financial management skills
• Teach and improve Individuals’ understanding of safeguarding, enforcing, and implementing policies to guard against abuse or exploitation
• Provide training to the Individual as indicated on the ISP, to assure acquisition, retention and improvement of adaptive skills and behaviors as appropriate
