Job summary

The City of Taylor is seeking a Librarian to deliver professional library services, assist with collection development, reference and reader's advisory services, programming, outreach, technology assistance, and daily operations at the Taylor Public Library.

The role supports literacy and lifelong learning in a welcoming environment, requires an MLIS/MLS from an ALA-accredited program and two years of professional library experience, plus a Texas Class C driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS/MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of professional library experience, preferably in a municipal library setting.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License, Class C.
  • Membership in Texas Library Association and American Library Association recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional reference and information services to patrons of all ages.
  • Assist with collection development, evaluation, and deselection.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct educational and cultural programs for children, teens, and adults.
  • Engage with community outreach and partnerships with schools and local groups.
  • Provide technology assistance and training for patrons and staff; manage digital resources.
