Job summary

Canopy Children’s Solutions in Jackson, MS is seeking a Community Support Specialist to deliver community-based services to children and families, linking them with social, educational, vocational, and recreational resources. The CSS works collaboratively to assess strengths, develop measurable interventions, and connect families with needed services while aligning with Canopy’s core values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field; at least two years' experience with children and families.
• Must be certified through the Mississippi Department of Mental Health as a Community Support Specialist.
• Experience implementing evidence-based practices when possible.
• Must have valid Mississippi driver license and be willing to use personal vehicle for agency business.

Responsibilities

• Assist children and families to gain access to community support services including education, medical, social, vocational, recreational and other services.
• Develop specific, measurable, individualized interventions and services to meet needs and measure progress.
• Provide transportation for families in a safe and responsible manner.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and collaborate with supervisor, therapist, and Canopy staff to monitor progress.
• Assist with aftercare planning to ensure referrals and appointments are made.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field
