Job summary

BHcare is seeking a dedicated Public Health/Prevention professional to build community partnerships, coordinate regional workplans, and implement evidence-based prevention initiatives across Connecticut. The role requires strong communication, collaboration with stakeholders, and a CPS credential or willingness to obtain it.

The position emphasizes coalition facilitation, outreach, and data-driven planning to improve youth health, mental health, and substance misuse outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, or Health Sciences.
  • Experience or strong interest in substance misuse prevention, mental health promotion, community engagement, or public health initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentations.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse community partners and stakeholders.
  • Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain community partnerships and coordinate assessment, capacity building, planning, and the regional workplan.
  • Facilitate coalition and prevention activities and use data to guide strategies.
  • Deliver engaging educational presentations, trainings, and prevention programming.
  • Support coalition development and community collaboration efforts.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based prevention initiatives addressing substance misuse and mental health.
  • Use the Strategic Prevention Framework to guide planning and evaluation.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze data and prepare grant reports.
  • Participate in local, regional, and statewide meetings with partners.
  • Leverage social media and technology to support prevention and health promotion.
  • Ensure compliance with grant and contract requirements and program objectives.
