Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System Corporation’s St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson seeks a Community Health Specialist to help design and implement community health strategies and programs across local neighborhoods.

This role blends office work with field outreach and partnerships. You will coordinate events, collaborate with diverse partners, track outcomes, and support leadership in program development.

Qualifications

• The candidate should have community health experience and experience working with community organizations.
• Strong project coordination, communication, and organizational skills are required.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal direction.
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a team.
• CHES certification is preferred when available.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and monitor community health programs and initiatives.
• Coordinate outreach projects, events, and health education activities.
• Represent UMMS and SJMC at community events and coalitions.
• Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and stakeholders.
• Assist with development of programs for targeted populations.
• Coordinate outreach materials and communications for programs.
• Plan projects with internal and external partners while managing deadlines.
• Communicate updates, plans, and outcomes to key stakeholders.
• Participate in community events to promote local health and well-being.
• Maintain reports and track outcomes related to programs and events.
• Support department leadership with additional community health projects.
