Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, digital media, public health, business, or related field preferred; equivalent education/experience considered.
• 2+ years in communications, marketing, public relations, digital media, community engagement or related field; healthcare/nonprofit preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with editing, storytelling, and message development abilities.
• Experience creating engaging digital and social media content, including short-form video, photography, graphics, and writing.
• Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut or comparable tools.
• Ability to tailor content for employees, patients, community partners, media, and the public.
• Strong interpersonal and project-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and events.
• Portfolio or samples of prior communications, marketing, social media, video, photography, design, or writing preferred.
• Knowledge of Kodiak community and local resources; ability to build new community relationships.
• On-site work regularly and occasional evening/weekend events.
• Bilingual abilities highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an integrated communications, marketing, and community engagement strategy aligned with KCHC’s mission and growth goals.
• Coordinate internal communications, ensuring timely, clear, consistent information across the organization.
• Create internal materials: staff announcements, newsletters, leadership messages, presentations, and campaigns.
• Develop external communications: press releases, newsletters, patient materials, and website content.
• Maintain brand voice, visual identity, and messaging standards across channels.
• Lead strategic social media and digital content plans to increase visibility and engagement.
• Create, film, edit, and publish short-form videos, photography, graphics, and other digital media.
• Maintain a proactive content calendar and identify opportunities beyond department requests.
