St. Louis County Department of Public Health is seeking a Community Health Educator to initiate its COSSUP activities (Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Site-based Program).
This Community Health Educator position is funded by DOJ Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Site-based Program (COSSUP). The role involves supporting substance use education and interventions within Correction Medicine, creating and refining intake and discharge planning for those engaged with treatment, and assisting in testing for contraband via Project EAGLEFANG. This is a grant-funded position through 9/30/2026.

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A committee will evaluate applicants based on education, experience, supplemental questions, references, and other relevant factors. Only the top candidates will be interviewed, and a passing grade of 70 or above is required. After interviews, candidates will receive instructions for submitting a Conviction Questionnaire within 3 days. The top five candidates will be certified for final selection.
All conditional offers require urinalysis screening for illegal drugs, covered by the County. New employees have 30 days to attest to COVID-19 vaccination status. Those not vaccinated must undergo weekly testing until fully vaccinated or until the County reaches a 70% vaccination rate with moderate COVID-19 transmission.
