Job description

Job description

Are you a passionate veterinarian looking to make a meaningful impact in a close-knit community while enjoying a healthy work-life balance? Our locally owned animal hospital is seeking an Associate Veterinarian who values connection, compassionate care, and community involvement.

Location, Location, Location!

Delmar Animal Hospital is a multi-doctor small animal practice located South East of Albany, NY. We are in the heart of New York. A two hour drive or train trip will bring you right to Manhattan. If you are more inclined to head north, we are about 3 hours away from Montreal! Like hiking, outdoors activities, or scenic views? The Adirondacks are only 40 minutes away!

Our History

We opened our doors over 50 years ago with the founding principle of combining high medical standards with personalized service, which we continue today. Many of our clients have brought their pets to our small practice for multiple generations. Not only does our practice boast cutting edge technology and experienced, knowledgeable veterinarians, but our size fosters a friendly atmosphere and close relationships between the veterinarians, their patients, and clients. Our friendly, well-trained team is highly skilled in pet restraint, assisting, client communication, and customer service. They take care of all aspects of the general operation of the clinic, so the veterinarians can focus on the clients and the pets.

Freedom to Practice

At the Delmar Animal Hospital, we believe that every care plan should be crafted by the veterinarian for the client, and most importantly, the patient. Because of our small size and non-corporate status, doctors are able to practice high-quality medicine while enjoying flexibility of using their own preferred treatment plans and medications to tend to their patients. We offer Virtual Assistants to assist the doctors for medical record transcription and client communications, and to help review and summarize reports and patient files. Skilled assistants and technicians do all the handling and are trained to anticipate your needs.

Duties:

  • Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
  • Treat and dress wounds
  • Perform surgery on animals (typically 1 dedicated morning per week)
  • Test for and vaccinate against diseases
  • Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
  • Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
  • Prescribe medication
  • Euthanize animals
