Allentown Parking Authority is seeking a Parking Enforcement Officer dedicated to serving the community. You will engage residents and visitors, educate on regulations, and enforce parking rules while prioritizing fairness and accessibility.

The role requires endurance to walk and ride, a valid license, bicycle certification, and the ability to work in all weather. The position emphasizes safety, documentation, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to ride a bicycle and pass bicycle certification course.
• Ability to walk 4–8 miles daily, sometimes on uneven terrain, and lift up to 35 pounds.
• Must operate a motor vehicle in all weather conditions.
• Prior experience in customer service or community relations preferred.
• Employee is an Essential Employee and must report to work in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Act as an ambassador for the Parking Authority through courteous interactions with residents, visitors, and businesses.
• Educate the public on parking regulations and their benefits to the community.
• Respond to inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
• Monitor designated areas to enforce parking regulations and ensure fair use of spaces.
• Issue citations when necessary and explain processes to drivers.
• Maintain accurate records of citations, warnings, and public interactions.
• Handle disputes with tact and diplomacy to de-escalate tensions.
