Job summary

The City of Oakland is seeking an entry-level Facility Security Assistant under the Office of Parks, Recreation & Youth Development. You will provide security for public buildings, respond to the public, answer phones, and support event setups.

You will work with a diverse community, require adaptability and strong interpersonal skills, and may work nights, holidays, and weekends. Candidates should be able to lift light to moderate loads and perform routine cleaning.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to completing the twelfth grade.
• At least one year of general work experience with the public.
• Valid California driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee facility usage and provide security oversight per rules and contracts.
• Perform routine and special security checks; open/close facilities.
• Prepare facility for events and rentals; review facility checklist.
• Sweep, mop, wipe surfaces, and maintain cleanliness of facilities.
• Arrange equipment and furniture; set up for activities.
• Maintain office hours and respond to the public; work varying shifts.
• Lift heavy furniture and equipment as needed.
• Observe safety standards and identify hazards.
