Job summary

The City of Gunnison is seeking motivated Adult Fitness Instructors to lead safe, engaging group fitness classes for adults of all levels. Instructors may teach strength, cardio, yoga, Pilates, cycling, dance fitness, HIIT, and more, fostering health, confidence, and wellness in the Gunnison community.

This temporary, non-exempt position is ideal for fitness enthusiasts aged 18+. Classes run 6:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., Monday–Sunday, with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Ages 18 and older with previous experience participating and/or instructing group fitness classes.
• Fitness Instructors will work/instruct during a variety of hours ranging from 6am-7pm Monday through Sunday.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver group fitness classes: Strength training, cardio, yoga, Pilates, cycling/spin, dance fitness, HIIT etc.
• Health & Wellness Focus: Promoting overall well-being, not just exercise to foster a positive, supportive environment that encourages participation, motivation, and community.
• Program Delivery: Planning and leading structured fitness sessions.
• Safety & Effectiveness: Monitoring participants and ensuring proper technique. As well as maintaining cleanliness, organization and safety upkeep of fitness spaces and equipment.
• Motivation & Engagement: Inspiring adults to maintain active lifestyles.
• Inclusivity: Acknowledging diverse fitness levels, ages, and abilities and adapting instruction to accommodate all.
• Collaboration: Communicate with staff, supervisor and participants to support overall wellness programming and special events.
• Good interpersonal skills are necessary to communicate with parents, staff and the general public.
