Job summary

The City of Mesa Fire and Medical Department is seeking a Fire and Life Safety Education Specialist to develop and implement public education and volunteer programs, coordinate events, and oversee volunteers.

This role interfaces with the media, trains staff and volunteers, and serves as a community information resource. A Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years in public safety or education are required; bilingual Spanish is preferred where possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Business Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of public safety or community education experience with public contact.
• 6 months to 1 year of public speaking experience or training.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement public education and volunteer programs.
• Coordinate educational programs, special events, and volunteer activities.
• Interface with media and provide community information; supervise Education staff and volunteers.
