Job summary

City of Mesa is seeking a Fire and Life Safety Education Specialist to develop and implement public education programs for the Mesa Fire and Medical Department. The role includes coordinating volunteers, engaging with media, and serving as a community information resource.

For Social Services assignments, the incumbent will conduct home visits, provide education, collaborate with agencies, and support safer living environments, including data gathering and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in public safety or community education programs.
• 6 months–1 year of experience in public speaking.
• Spanish bilingual strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement public education and volunteer programs for the Mesa Fire and Medical Department.
• Manage and coordinate educational programs, events, and volunteers; interface with the media.
• Train and direct the Fire and Life Safety Education Assistant class and supervise volunteers.
• Provide home visits and in-home assessments for Social Services and Home Safety Education Programs.
• Gather data, prepare reports, and coordinate curriculum; monitor program budgets.
