Job summary

Wheeler Health in Norwalk, CT seeks a Multidimensional Family Recovery Specialist to work primarily in clients’ homes and community settings. You will conduct MDFR in three phases and focus on caregivers, children, parenting, and family connections while delivering brief interventions.

The role includes a $4,000 sign-on bonus, a $4,160 cost-of-living stipend, and a bilingual stipend for Spanish/English speakers. Full-time with benefits and a strong emphasis on community-based support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required, with preferred fields in psychology, social work, or related human services.
• Experience in the substance use treatment field or experience with adults in community-based programs.
• Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the provision of services by other community professionals.
• Deliver MDFR in the parent/caregiver’s home or in the community through at least weekly face to face contact.
• Assess parent/caregiver needs and family situations using DCF approved screening tools to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
• Assist in developing their Recovery Support Plan with the parent/caregiver.
• Facilitate engagement and retention in substance use and mental health treatment for parents.
• Provide access to developmental, educational, and medical services for the children.
• Improve parenting skills including co-parenting and parental teamwork.
• Reinforce skills learned in counseling and repair family relationships.
