West Des Moines Community Schools is seeking a Building Supervisor for the Community Education program in West Des Moines, IA. The role requires weekend work and possible weeknight substitutions on occasion, with starting date October 1, 2026.

Responsibilities include serving as liaison among groups, reviewing event calendars, overseeing facility use, supervising cleaning, handling materials, and coordinating with custodians and staff. Prior orientation and ongoing training are expected.

Responsibilities

• Serve as communication and public relations liaison between citizen groups, Group Representatives, community education staff, district personnel and custodial staff.
• Review calendar of events, anticipate services needed and work cooperatively with those responsible to determine additional services and/or manpower needs.
• Monitor general condition of facility before, during and following scheduled activities.
• Monitor groups to assure adherence to appropriate use of district facilities.
• Distribute materials and/or equipment including media equipment as advance requested.
• Answer telephone as needed.
• Collect monies and deposit with Community Education as needed.
• Clean and/or assist citizen groups with cleaning of facility to return it to desired condition as specified in supervisor duty guidelines.
• Acquire/return facility keys from Community Education as needed for assignments.
• Report to Building Supervisor Specialist on all relevant matters.
• Attend annual orientation, staff development, and special meetings as assigned.
• Complete all training as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
