Job summary

The City of Brighton is seeking a Special Events Coordinator to plan, organize and execute community-wide events year-round. You will manage logistics, budgets, sponsorships, and volunteer programs, coordinating with city departments and vendors to deliver engaging events that build community identity.

Responsibilities include recruiting sponsors, overseeing contractors, evaluating events, and ensuring timely marketing through digital and print channels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, event planning, business administration or related field.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in large-scale events and event planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, supervise, promote and execute community-wide events.
  • Develop and foster relationships with sponsors and local businesses; manage event budgets.
  • Train and supervise volunteers and staff; coordinate contractors and vendors.
  • Create incident action plans and coordinate with multiple city departments.
  • Monitor timelines and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Evaluate and revitalize events; propose new concepts with the Events team.
  • Collaborate with communications on marketing via social media, on-line and off-line channels.
  • Record expenditures and generate budget reports.
