Job summary

CareOregon is seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator in Oregon to lead engagement activities, build diverse partnerships, and support public participation initiatives. You will research best practices, coordinate events, and develop materials to explain OHP benefits while aligning with CareOregon’s equity goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in volunteer coordination, project coordination, or community outreach in non-profit settings.
• Valid driver’s license and automobile liability coverage or access to insured vehicle.
• Knowledge of project management and change management principles and methods.
• Understanding of consumer engagement and vulnerable populations, especially communities of color.
• Familiarity with community-based organization operations and services.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to conduct trainings and presentations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and social media platforms.
• Ability to work independently and with diverse groups; manage multiple projects and timelines.
• Able to perform repetitive tasks and work evening/weekend activities as needed.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, immunization review, and drug screen including THC.

Responsibilities

• Administer community engagement and outreach activities for an assigned region.
• Research and identify best practices to engage members, partners, and the public.
• Act as a community liaison to services serving the same population.
• Support and coordinate events, health fairs, workshops, and projects with partners.
• Foster relationships with community-based organizations and networks.
• Identify partner information needs and connect partners to CareOregon resources.
• Develop and deliver education materials regarding OHP benefits and CareOregon services.
• Develop and implement public participation plans and outreach tools.
• Maintain partner communication tools including databases, newsletters, emails, websites, and social media.
• Coordinate community events and outreach initiatives with internal teams.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in community dynamics and cross-cultural engagement.
• Coordinate the ICN Community Based Organization Workgroup with recruitment and meetings.
• Liaise with external stakeholders and report to leadership.
• Support implementation of the Community Health Improvement Plan, including research and reporting.
• Represent CareOregon at events, committees, and project-specific gatherings.
• Lead small improvement projects in community engagement and partnerships.
• Develop project plans, track status, and communicate changes.
• Collaborate across community organizations and internal departments.
• Assist with contract development and related administration.
• Perform work aligned with CareOregon’s mission, equity, diversity, and inclusion commitments.
• Travel outside the workplace at least weekly and perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in volunteer coordination, project coordination, or community outreach experience in non-profit organizations

• Understanding of consumer engagement and vulnerable populations, particularly communities of color
• Familiarity with community-based organization operations and services
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to conduct trainings and presentations
• Competency with Microsoft Office applications
• Proficiency with social media platforms
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse individuals and groups

• Ability to see, read, and perform repetitive finger and wrist movement for at least 6 hours/day
• Ability to hear and speak clearly for at least 3-6 hours/day
• Ability to occasionally work irregular hours, including evening meetings and weekend activities
