Job summary

American Institute of Physics seeks a highly organized Community Engagement Associate to link SPS, Sigma Pi Sigma, external stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. You will manage multiple projects, coordinate events, and drive engagement initiatives across undergraduate physics programs.

The role partners with SPS leadership to plan major events, monitor budgets, and deliver high-impact programs. Strong communication and collaboration, plus willingness to travel, are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred in scientific education or related field.
• 5+ years in association/nonprofit or higher education settings.
• 3-4 years leading student programs in higher education or nonprofit management.
• Experience with project management tools (Monday.com) and timelines.
• Advanced proficiency in Google and MS Office.
• Experience with data visualization and data management systems.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel and work beyond normal business hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of multiple programs and initiatives for SPS and Sigma Pi Sigma, including budget oversight.
• Oversee member engagement initiatives and data to inform strategic decisions.
• Represent AIP professionally at national meetings, campus visits, and events as an ambassador for undergraduate physics education.
• Collaborate with content, communications, and engagement teams to develop event experiences and communications.
• Develop program content across channels and produce reports on outcomes and impact.
• Manage SPS Congress planning, logistics, registrations, and post-event evaluation.
