Job summary

Foundation For The Carolinas’ Arts & Science Council seeks a Community Engagement Specialist to coordinate programs, learning experiences, volunteer efforts, and donor/stakeholder events. You’ll translate priorities into clear project plans, timelines, and readiness tools, collaborating across ASC teams to advance equitable civic engagement in Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in program coordination, event operations, nonprofit project management, or volunteer coordination.
• Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, timelines, and dependencies.
• Strong project management and organizational skills with trackers, checklists, and follow-ups.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate across departments with multiple strategy owners.
• Sound judgment on when to escalate decisions.
• Experience supporting events, trainings, or civic engagement programs.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, accessibility, and community-centered approaches.

Responsibilities

• Own operational planning and execution for assigned community engagement programs and initiatives.
• Translate priorities into project plans, timelines, readiness checklists, and project trackers.
• Maintain schedules, deadlines, dependencies, assignments, and status updates.
• Coordinate across departments to ensure clear roles and responsibilities.
• Escalate risks or delays to the strategy owner.
• Coordinate delivery of learning programs, including logistics, communications, materials, and attendance tracking.
• Support volunteer engagement processes, sign-ups, rosters, and recognition.
• Support donor and government partner events, including planning, invitations, and follow-up.
