Community Engagement & Partnerships Coordinator, Bureau of Harlem Neighborhood Health

The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) aims to eliminate racial and other inequities leading to premature mortality. CHECW works to increase visibility of harm caused by racist, unjust policies and pushes for redress in NYC communities. It focuses on social determinants of health, including environmental and commercial factors, addressing upstream and downstream influences to improve health outcomes. CHECW comprises various bureaus including Harlem Neighborhood Health, which supports NYC's mission to protect and promote health, particularly addressing health disparities through programs like the Harlem Advocacy Partnership and Asthma Counselor Program.

The Bureau seeks a Community Engagement & Partnerships Coordinator (CEPC) to build and sustain relationships with local organizations and community partners to address underserved communities' health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with local organizations and community partners.
  • Manage projects and initiatives, including development, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion programs.
  • Identify and enhance local partnerships, providing technical assistance.
  • Support the use of the Salesforce platform and Partners Connect for program activities.
  • Coordinate community outreach and communication materials, collaborating with CHECW communications team.
  • Assist in community engagement activities, including attending meetings and delivering presentations.
  • Supervise and train health promotion staff and interns.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of Harlem community stakeholders.
  • Experience working with community members and organizations.
  • Comfort in diverse community settings.
  • Experience with Salesforce.
  • Fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese, and/or Spanish.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects.
  • Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree and two years of community work experience, or
  • High school diploma and six years of relevant community experience, or
  • Equivalent education/experience with at least one year of relevant experience.

Residency in NYC is generally required within 90 days of appointment, with some exceptions based on employment history.
