Job summary

Harris County in Houston seeks an experienced outreach professional to strengthen community relations and serve as a liaison between the office and residents. You will engage diverse groups, represent the office at meetings, and help connect citizens with available resources.

The role requires building trusted relationships with community leaders, coordinating events, and supporting communications on public affairs. Typical hours are Monday–Friday with additional evenings/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
• 1 to 4 years of experience working with similar programs or related positions.
• Related experience includes: community engagement, community outreach government campaigns, youth engagement, or public affairs.

Responsibilities

• Identify and support initiatives related to building community relations and outreach.
• Attend meetings on behalf of the office with civic clubs and community groups.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community groups and other offices.
• Support constituent services by identifying needs and navigating resources.
• Build relationships with leaders and address direct issues for the office.
• Attend events on behalf of the office and present proclamations when needed.
• Assist with planning and logistics for office events and programs.
