Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years as a multi-media journalist (MMJ), news reporter, digital content producer, professional public relations role, or related experience.
• Portfolio or reel showing high-quality video production, photography, and written work.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass an extensive background check.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and attend community events such as Citizens Police Academies, neighborhood meetings, and youth outreach programs.
• Manage and grow the department’s official social media platforms; respond to inquiries professionally.
• Write, shoot, and edit video packages, photo essays, and articles highlighting department initiatives and public safety tips.
• Draft press releases, coordinate media availability, and assist during major incidents or events.
• Assist in disseminating accurate information to the public during emergencies via digital and broadcast channels.
• Produce internal newsletters or videos to highlight staff work and boost morale.
• Anticipate and manage potential issues; demonstrate strong prioritization and communication skills.
