Job summary

The CFL Initiative in Chicago seeks a Community Engagement Manager to coordinate and grow engagement with unions and community partners. You will work under the Director of Community Engagement to implement programs, events, and campaigns that support UWMC and CFL goals.

As a key ambassador, you will organize fundraising campaigns, manage events like May Day 5K, and build strong relationships across labor networks.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with the local labor movement and organizational structures.
• Experience executing work plans related to fundraising and community engagement.
• Ability to work with diverse organizations on social and economic justice issues.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to speak in front of large groups.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work occasional weekends and evenings.
• Demonstrates accountability and results orientation.
• Ability to analyze information and translate into actions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and develops UWMC workplace giving campaigns with union-represented employees.
• Manages CFL community engagement programming and large-scale events.
• Connects union members to public/private support services as needed.
• Provides strike assistance to workers accessing resources.
• Grow union engagement with United Way through campaigns and events.
• Cultivates relationships with unions and community partners.
• Attends AFL-CIO and UWMC conferences and trainings.
• Represents UWMC and CFL at public-facing events and meetings.
• Writes articles and contributes materials for CFL publications and social media.
• Identifies volunteering opportunities for partner agencies.
