Job summary

The CFL Initiative in Chicago seeks a Community Engagement Manager to coordinate programming and provide technical support to CFL and its affiliated unions on behalf of UWMC and the CFL Initiative. You will build strong relationships with Chicago’s labor community to encourage participation across organized labor, support United Way fundraising, and develop joint programs that benefit local neighborhoods.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with local labor movement and organizational structures.
• Experience executing work plans related to fundraising and community engagement.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse organizations on social justice issues.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong public speaking ability.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work weekends and evenings when needed.
• Accountability for results and proactive problem solving.
• Ability to analyze information and translate into actions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate UWMC workplace giving campaigns involving union-represented employees.
• Manage CFL community engagement programming and large events.
• Connect union members to public and private support services.
• Provide strike assistance to workers during labor disputes.
• Grow union engagement with United Way through campaigns and events.
• Cultivate relationships with unions and community partners.
• Attend conferences and trainings with AFL-CIO and UWMC.
• Attend CFL Delegates Meetings and other meetings as directed.
• Write articles and contribute materials for CFL publications and social media.
• Support UWMC Partner Engagement and identify volunteer opportunities.
• Represent UWMC and CFL at public facing events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
