OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for community engagement; protection of personal/property; harm reduction and securing assets, properties, personnel and visitors, under the direction of the Associate Director of Community Engagement & Safety. The coordinator supports IMAN’s vision of a thriving community by acting in a community leader capacity and ambassador for IMAN programs, events, initiatives and engagements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform daily safety and security patrols.
- Perform daily weapons/illegal substance searches for participants in the Green ReEntry program.
- Perform covid safety procedures for visitors and employees.
- Ensure the security of premises and safety/well-being of all personnel and visitors.
- Comply with IMAN’s services and established operating standards
- Comply with local, state and federal safety regulations
- Inspect IMAN’s property for theft, sabotage, fire hazards and potential accidents and files an incident report.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety breaches, fire hazards and other security related situations. Writes a report for CES manager on investigation findings. Files report as required for shared drive.
- Provide assistance to patients/clients, participants, employees and visitors in accordance with CES procedures.
- Follow established procedures for various emergency preparedness, including fire prevention, property patrol, traffic control and accident investigations
- Participate in trainings and employee orientations as assigned
- Act in a leadership capacity for assigned IMAN’s programs, events and initiatives.
- Monitor video surveillance on a daily basis and takes appropriate corrective action
- Responsible for retrieving video surveillance for IMAN investigations.
- De-escalate conflict and volatile situations
- All other tasks as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years of security experience
- Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business
- environment and law enforcement procedures.
- Ability to avoid conflicts of interest and act ethically at all times
- Keen awareness of surroundings and detail oriented.
- Social sensitivity is essential.
- Multi-lingual (Spanish and/or Arabic are a plus)
- PERC card strongly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:- Frequent outdoor exposure, in all weather conditions,
- Ability to run, climb, stand and walk for extended hours.
- Ability to restrain physically aggressive individuals as required.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Some weekend and night work required.
- Able to lift up to 100 lbs
GENERAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:- Understanding of security procedures, protocols, and best practices to ensure the safety of personnel and property.
- Ability to identify and assess potential risks and vulnerabilities in a variety of environments.
- Proficiency in using surveillance systems and monitoring tools to detect and respond to security threats effectively.
- Capability to manage crisis situations calmly and efficiently, making critical decisions under pressure to minimize harm and ensure the safety of all involved.
- Familiarity with various security technologies such as access control systems, CCTV cameras, alarm systems, etc., and the ability to utilize them effectively.
- Skill in documenting and reporting security incidents accurately and conducting thorough investigations to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Clear and effective communication skills to convey security procedures, policies, and emergency protocols to staff, and external parties.
- Ability to collaborate with various departments, external agencies, and law enforcement to enhance security measures and respond effectively to security incidents.
- Being meticulous and thorough in assessing security threats, implementing preventive measures, and conducting investigations to ensure nothing is overlooked.
- Ability to adapt to changing security threats, organizational needs, and evolving technologies to maintain effective security measures.
