Job summary

Achieva in Greensburg, PA seeks a Community Employment Specialist to connect people with disabilities to community-based, competitive employment. You will assess skills, build job-seeker competencies, and foster employer relationships to provide ongoing support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one year of related experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with disabilities.
• Ability to train people with disabilities on a one-to-one basis using various instructional techniques.
• Ability to communicate an understanding of local business community needs and job performance assessment.
• Schedule flexibility to accommodate varying shifts and weekends.
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License and access to a properly insured vehicle for daily work.
• Required clearances: Act 33, Act 34, and FBI Background Check.
• Candidates with prior experience in disability services, employment supports, recruitment, or advocacy are preferred.

• Facilitates work assessments or job trials to evaluate a job seeker's interests and abilities.
• Provides job shadowing opportunities for job seekers to explore employment options.
• Helps people discover and evaluate job opportunities.
• Provides direct job coaching, training, and ongoing support.
• Promotes sustainable competitive integrated employment by building and maintaining relationships with employers.
• Promotes the inclusion of Achieva's employment supports and services across the local business community.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Community Employment Specialist connects people with disabilities with community-based, competitive employment. Working in the community, this person assesses skills, builds job seeker competencies, establishes relationships with businesses, and gives individuals the tools and support needed to be successful.

• Required clearances: Act 33 (Child Abuse), Act 34 (Criminal Record), and FBI Background Check.
• Candidates with prior experience in disability services, employment supports, recruitment, or advocacy are strongly preferred.
