Job summary

Health & Human Services in Wilmington seeks a Community Employment Program Specialist (S) to assist counselors and provide services for consumers in New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick Counties.

You will help place eligible consumers in suitable employment, set vocational goals with counselors, teach employment marketing classes, present to businesses, provide progress feedback, and participate in job fairs and partnerships to promote VR services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services or business from an accredited institution.
• OR Associate’s degree in human services or business plus two years related work experience.
• OR High school diploma or GED with four years related work experience.
• OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in placing eligible consumers in competitive employment aligned with their interests and abilities.
• Collaborate with counselors to set vocational goals and identify job opportunities.
• Teach employment marketing classes to work-ready consumers.
• Present to businesses and community partners to promote VR services and hire prospects.
• Provide written and verbal feedback on consumer progress to counselors.
• Participate in job fairs and community events to promote the agency and its consumers.
• Market on-the-job training and internships to employers and present Windmills Disability Awareness Training where applicable.
