Job summary

Women In Transition in Philadelphia seeks a Community Educator to lead DV prevention initiatives at the intersection with gun violence, focusing on education, outreach, and partnerships. The role is a full-time, 35-hour weekly, hybrid position reporting to the Prevention and Education Director.

The educator will design and facilitate workshops, build CVI partnerships, coordinate trainings, and provide LifeLine counseling while promoting trauma-informed, equity-based practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus; experience may substitute.
  • Experience in community outreach.
  • Experience delivering educational programs and workshops.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics, trauma-informed approaches, and intersectionality.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences and create inclusive learning environments.
  • Commitment to social justice, equity, and empowerment of survivors.
  • Willingness to travel and work directly at the community level.
  • Evening and weekends as needed for workshops, events.
  • Familiarity with Philadelphia is a plus.
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
  • Ability to provide FBI/Child Abuse/Criminal clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Create, plan, and facilitate interactive workshops, presentations, and training to help the community recognize and respond to intimate partner violence using a trauma-informed and equity based lens.
  • Plan and facilitate professional development training and continuing education opportunities that provide skill building for addressing domestic violence and supporting survivors.
  • Plan and Facilitate WAVE ESD programming and teach skills for various situations.
  • Foster connections between DV service providers and CVI organizations serving overlapping populations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local agencies, coalitions, and community groups; attend meetings and events.
  • Attend vigils for DV shooting victims to support community members and increase connection to DV resources.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to promote awareness and coordinate outreach efforts.
  • Represent WIT at meetings, coalitions, conferences, and public events.
  • Develop culturally responsive messaging with community partners for DV prevention education programs.
  • Identify emerging community needs and recommend program improvements.
  • Support evaluation and data collection for education and prevention programs.
  • Provide up to four hours of LifeLine counseling weekly for survivors and supporters.
