Job summary

Pipestone Area Schools is seeking a Director Of Community Education to provide leadership, development, implementation and evaluation of Community Education activities, programs and services for the Pipestone area. You will work with educational partners district-wide to serve the community.

The role includes program development, budget management, marketing, reporting, and community relations, with responsibilities for staff supervision and volunteer coordination.

Job description

Director Of Community Education

Provide leadership, development, implementation and evaluation of Community Education activities, programs and services. Work in collaboration with educational partners throughout the district and the community as a whole to serve the Pipestone Area Schools community.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Program Development and Management

• Plan, organize and administer a program of community education.


• Work with district personnel, community education advisory council, outside agencies and governmental units to develop cooperative and coordinated programs.


• Administer community education programs in accordance with the state community education guidelines and school board policies.


• Responsible for program/activity registration and receipt of fees for all community education programs and activities.


• Develop, maintain, review and analyze program evaluation documents.


• Recruit and staff community education programs and activities.


• Direct work activities of employees within the community education department, supervise staff and perform evaluations.


• Coordinate community education volunteers.


• Provide in-service training for staff as deemed necessary.


• Coordinate building use for community education sponsored activities and events.


• Attend meetings, in-services and workshops as needed.

Budget/Finance

• Work with the district business office to prepare the preliminary and revised annual budgets for community education programs and activities.


• Monitor revenues and oversee expenditures to ensure they conform to federal, state and local community education guidelines and do not exceed budget.


• Make recommendations regarding levies, including special needs in school age care.


• Research, prepare and follow through with grant proposals or other opportunities for supplemental funding.


• Prepare and share financial reports as needed and/or requested (conclusion of class, monthly, annually, etc.).

Marketing/Reporting

• Work with staff to create materials for local advertisements and promotion of community education programs.


• Prepare reports required by the Minnesota Department of Education and other agencies or entities.


• Oversee preparation and publishing of the Community Education Program Catalog/Newsletter three times each year (Fall/Winter Winter/Spring Spring/Summer).

Communication and Community Relations

• Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant agencies and organizations.


• Facilitate communication and maintain relationships with stakeholders, promote awareness of community education programs and services.


• Keep abreast of changing developments and trends in community education and lifelong learning, communicate information to stakeholders.


• Connect with city, county and collaborative stakeholders; serve on committees as appropriate.

Requirements

• Must meet licensure requirements or be willing to complete licensure requirements as a community education director in Minnesota.
